Q.1: "Does the school have to have a wetland or frog habitat to participate in the Frog Census?"
A wetland or frog habitat is not required for participation in the Frog Census - where you do your census is flexible. You may like to arrange to take to students to a local frog habitat, or you may assign the recording of the frogs for homework.
Q.2: "When do we record the frog calls?"
The best time to record frog calls is at dusk on warm, still nights, just after or before it rains. So it would be good to organise some dusk time recording if possible. Ways of doing this include:
- asking a few students to make some recordings at dusk/night on behalf of the whole class.
- conducting the Frog Census recording as an after school activity/club involving parents and students.
